The 17th Annual Grand Civil War Ball

Join us for a delightful evening at the historic Waverly Community House as we travel back in time to reenact a mid-19th century formal ball. Dance the night away with live music by vintage dance band, Spare Parts, as they play authentic music from the Civil War era including polkas, waltzes, and several reels such as the Virginia Reel and Snowball Reel. Vintage dance instructor, Susan de Guardiola, will precept the ball. She will offer a brief instruction before each set dance and then lead you through the sequences that comprise each dance.

Period dress or dress blues/grays are admired, but not required.
Formal dress for both men and ladies is required.
Light refreshments will be served during intermission.

Not sure how to dance? No worries – it’s easy, it’s fun, and we will teach you!
We are offering a dance workshop, taught by vintage dance instructor Susan de Guardiola on Saturday afternoon, April 29th. Susan will teach waltz, polka, and many other dances from the 1860's.
Learn to dance like your ancestors did during the Civil War era.
No prior dance experience is necessary.
It's everything you need to be ready for the Grand Civil War Ball later in the evening.

Price of dance lessons included in with Ball ticket price.

Tickets are $40 per person and include the pre-ball dance lessons.
All tickets are non-refundable.

COVID-19 Policy:


The Ball will be held in a large hall with plenty of windows allowing for good air flow. At this time, we do not require proof of vacination and will not require individuals to wear a mask, although people may do so if they wish. We ask that you do not attend if you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19, have been recently diagnosed with COVID-19, or were in recent contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19.
