The Lackawanna Historical Society maintains a large manuscript collection that documents life in Lackawanna County from its inception. Among the manuscript collections on hand at the LHS are: anthracite mining and railroad documents, land titles and transactions, county prison records, business and industry letters, funeral home records, and personal diaries and letters.
